Every neighborhood has assets – the people, places, and experiences that make each community unique. Our Detroit work focuses on leveraging those assets with capital, programs and policy to advance racial equity and preserve affordable homes. We’ve helped create or preserve over 20,200 homes by leveraging $797 million in capital across the region.
Some of our key programs include:
- Community Development Organization Funds: Supports the sustainability and success of local nonprofits with multi-year operating grants and technical assistance.
- Equitable Path Forward: Supports BIPOC housing providers with access to capital, advisory services, and leadership training.
- Detroit Home Repair Fund: Builds capacity for non-profit partners to provide low-income homeowners with critical home repairs.
- Thome Aging Well: Supports Michigan nonprofits to expand aging-in-place initiatives for older adults.
- State and Local Policy: Collaborates with state and local housing partners to advocate for land contract reform, fair tax treatment of community land trusts, and eviction prevention.
