As climate change intensifies, severe flood events have become more commonplace across the entire U.S. Extreme flooding disproportionately impacts low-income communities and people of color because they often live in areas that are more prone to flooding, in housing stock not well suited to weather such events, and lack adequate disaster plans as well as the financial means to evacuate and/or temporarily relocate.

Enterprise hosted the Housing Our Community event, bringing together the 2024 grant recipients of U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) Housing Ecosystem Development Grants Program to share their innovative projects, exchange ideas, and discuss challenges and lessons learned.

Celebrating two decades of Enterprise Green Communities, housing leaders gathered online and in Washington, D.C., to reflect on the next chapter for healthy, resilient, and energy-efficient affordable homes amid a moment of unprecedented bipartisan support for housing affordability.
