The California Tribal Housing Accelerator Academy is a technical assistance program focused on practitioner-driven housing development fundamentals and peer-to-peer support. Support from our technical assistance providers and training sessions. The Academy will aid California tribal organizations seeking to maximize state housing funds and expand your ability to address housing needs for tribal citizens. We seek to work alongside tribes to ensure that critical housing resources are maximized and that tribal communities have equitable access to safe, decent, affordable, and culturally relevant housing.
Our current academy has available a series of special topic training courses to deepen organizational knowledge of housing development. Through this webinar series, tribes will have access to special experts and build capacity around common affordable housing questions and concerns.

Join us for Affordable Housing 101 for California Tribes, the official kickoff of the 2025 California Tribal Housing Academy, hosted at the tribally-owned Hard Rock Sacramento Casino and Hotel. This event is designed for housing professionals from federally or state-recognized tribes in California, as well as Native-led nonprofits, to gain essential knowledge in affordable housing development. You’ll learn about every stage of the process—from visioning and community planning, to securing funding, navigating pre-development, and managing construction and design. We’ll also cover long-term stewardship, including compliance and property management.
In addition to expert-led sessions, this event offers an opportunity to connect with peers, build relationships, and engage with the California Tribal Housing Academy and its network of technical assistance providers. Hosted by Enterprise Community Partners, this is a unique chance to expand your knowledge, foster valuable connections, and enhance your ability to develop successful housing projects that benefit your community. The event is open to all, but is especially geared toward tribal housing professionals and Native-led nonprofits here in California.
Session 1: Landscape of California Funding Resources (What’s to Come) | April 23, 2025
New policy changes in California mean that tribes have more access to state funding resources for affordable housing than ever, yet these processes remain complex and hard to navigate. Join us for demystifying the resources available for your next development project. Topics include timelines for applications, key funding criteria, and establishing a shared goal of fully subscribed tribal set-asides for housing resources.

Roads, wires, pipes, oh my! There’s a lot that goes into the site preparation and infrastructure systems integral to your housing development project. Join the CA Tribal Housing Academy with our guest speaker, LACO Associates, who have decades of experience in site, infrastructure, and housing development. When it comes to infrastructure for housing, we’ll explore available resources, how to plan out phases of development, and common pitfalls tribes are seeing.

Whether you’re interested in a Homekey Tribal project or better serving your tribal community members, supportive services for housing can feel overwhelming to plan for. Ongoing operating support for unhoused relatives is possible and can take advantage of wisdom and skills you already have in your community. Join the CA Tribal Housing Academy and our guest speaker, Beaux Simone Consulting, who has experience in permanent supportive housing on and off tribal land.
