Barry Curtis is the President and Owner of Best Fence, LLC, a commercial fence company located in Glen Burnie, Md. Barry acquired Best Fence and became President in January 2009.
Barry is also the President and Owner of Cooke Bros Funeral Chapel, Inc. in Newport News, Va, a 135 year old full service funeral home. Barry acquired Cooke Brothers in February 2003.
Prior to owning Best Fence and Cooke Bros, Barry was a Managing Director in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group of Stifel Nicolaus, Inc. (NYSE: SF) – formerly Legg Mason, a full service investment banking firm. He joined Legg Mason on February 14, 2004, as a Managing Director in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group. In his capacity as Managing Director, Barry was responsible for advising public and privately-owned real estate companies on a wide range of financing alternatives covering equity, equity-linked, debt and M&A products.
Prior to joining Legg Mason/Stifel, Barry was a Director in the Large Cap Investment Banking Group (LCIB) at Deutsche Bank Securities where he played an integral role in the development of the firm’s investment banking coverage of large cap / “Fortune 200” companies covering a variety of industry groups including telecommunications, technology, health care, consumer products and global conglomerates.
Prior to joining LCIB in June 2000, Barry was a Director in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group at Deutsche Bank. He joined the Real Estate Investment Banking Group in June 1997.
From 1994 to 1997, Barry was a Vice President and Senior Research Analyst in the Real Estate Research Group of Alex. Brown & Sons, where he was responsible for research coverage of publicly-owned real estate securities. From 1990 through 1993, Barry worked for the Prudential Realty Group where he spent three years in the Real Estate Equity Portfolio Management Group.
Barry is a Certified Public Accountant, earned his B.B.A. from Howard University and his M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Barry serves as a Director, and Executive Committee member, of the Howard County Economic Development Authority; a Director on the Enterprise Community Investment Board, and a Director on the Foundation Board of the Park School in Baltimore, where he is the former Treasurer and Chairman of the Finance.
