Danielle Arigoni

Danielle Arigoni is a land use, affordable housing, and community resilience expert, with a 25-year career in roles dedicated to creating more equitable, resilient, and livable communities. In the public sector, Danielle has held leadership positions in HUD, USAID, and US EPA. She served as the Director of Environmental Justice for EPA’s Region 8 and previously as Director of HUD’s Office of Sustainable Communities. She has also led visionary efforts in the nonprofit sector as Director of Livable Communities for AARP, and as Managing Director for Policy and Solutions at National Housing Trust.

Danielle is the author of the groundbreaking book, Climate Resilience for an Aging Nation (Island Press, 2023), which explores the impacts of climate change on a rapidly growing demographic – people over 65 – and how a more thoughtful approach to housing, transportation and more can reduce risk for all. 

Danielle holds a master's degree in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University, and a bachelor's in Planning from the University of Oregon. She is a former Peace Corps Volunteer (Kenya 1992-94), a member of the Senior Executive Service (2024), and served as a Fulbright Specialist to Colombia. She currently supports two national nonprofits as a volunteer member of the Board of Directors: League of American Bicyclists (Chair) and Smart Growth America.
