With support from Citi, Enterprise Community Partners and the Illinois Public Health Institute (IPHI) hosted a webinar exploring the intersection of mental health, healing and belonging in affordable housing.
Public health data highlights that several West and South Side communities in Chicago and Suburban Cook County have disproportionately high rates of poverty, cost-burdened and crowded housing, low educational attainment, low access to healthcare, unemployment, and violence. As a result, they share a disproportionate burden of health inequities.
Learn how Chicagoland affordable housing developers worked with communities and public health professionals to highlight health needs of residents in three Chicagoland communities, uplift important community assets, and develop strategies to address health priorities in mental health, trauma and community belonging through health action plans.
During the webinar, public health experts and affordable housing leaders will present a recently released healing centered community development framework and the results of three health action plans developed by IPHI in partnership with Chicago affordable housing providers. Breakout sessions will give attendees the opportunity to further engage in the discussions.
