The “Key Strategies and Resources for Equitable Resilience” collection offers an introductory packet of information for communities in the immediate aftermath of a disaster. The briefs aim to alert and inform communities about crucial elements of post-disaster resilience strategies, which research has shown are often overlooked or less understood initially. The Key Strategies and Resources for Equitable Resilience collection has 11 standalone guides organized into three themes:
Communicate Early and Often
- Federal Agencies in Post-disaster Resilience Efforts
- Setting Expectations for Recovery Assistance
- Using Technology to Facilitate Outreach and Communication
- Tracking and Communicating Progress
Identifying and Assisting Key Populations
- Low- and Moderate-Income (LMI) Households
- Renter Households
- Serving Seniors
- Supporting Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Populations
Reaching Impacted Residents
- Identifying and Building Relationships with Community Partners
- Setting up Local One-Stop-Shops for Post-Disaster Resilience Needs
- Anticipating and Adjusting to Changes in Needs Over Time
The collection was developed as a companion product to the research paper, "Evaluating Equity Efforts and Outcomes of CDBG-DR Funded Flood Resilience Efforts in Four Communities."
