As part of the East Bay Housing Organizations’ 2025 Affordable Housing Month, this virtual panel brought together affordable and sustainable housing experts to discuss the findings of Decarbonizing Unsubsidized Affordable Housing: A Roadmap for Equity and Sustainability, a new report by Enterprise Community Partners, LISC Bay Area, and Housing Accelerator Fund The panel featured insights from Northern California Land Trust and Chinatown Community Development Corporation on how they’re approaching decarbonization in older, unsubsidized buildings. Panelists explored funding gaps, financing challenges, and creative solutions for making these homes more sustainable.

Attendees also learned how new and pending decarbonization mandates could affect preserved properties—and how the public sector, community development financial institutions, and philanthropy can help support this critical work.
