The Enterprise Women’s Network (EWN) supports educational enrichment for children and better housing opportunities for their families and communities in Baltimore, Maryland.
Working through two signature programs—the Girls Mentoring Program and the Book Fair—the EWN is deeply rooted in the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood of West Baltimore.
Girls Mentoring Program
Since 2001, EWN has been mentoring young girls (grades 3-8) attending Sandtown-Winchester Achievement Academy. For a generation, EWN has helped students:
• Build self-esteem
• Make healthy choices
• Develop strategies to problem solve
• Achieve personal and academic success
• Forge strong, meaningful relationships with their peers and mentors
Investing in the Next Generation
Our mentor commitment does more than support our girls—it transforms lives. Research consistently highlights the profound effects of mentoring:
- Academic and Personal Growth: Mentored youth are more likely to pursue higher education and exhibit improved academic performance.
- Enhanced Confidence and Belonging: Effective mentoring fosters a greater sense of self-efficacy and belonging within academic communities.
- Long-Term Success: Mentoring has been linked to increased earnings and reduced socioeconomic disparities, demonstrating its lasting impact on mentees' lives.
