Barbara Richardson has been doing her part to build an active, thriving community for more than 40 years.

A longtime resident of Park Montgomery Apartments in Silver Spring, Maryland, Barbara has engaged in numerous volunteer initiatives, even bringing together residents and property management staff to build share ideas and resolve concerns.

Barbara also serves on the tenant association at Park Montgomery, helping organize events, senior trips and other activities for her fellow residents. She welcomes any opportunity to assist her community and continues to bring value to programs, workshops and meetings through her regular participation in these initiatives.

Barbara has been a beloved member of her community for the past 44 years and continues to welcome everyone into the Park Montgomery family. She is the proud recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award, that recognizes her countless contributions and commitment to creating a thriving and healthy community at Park Montgomery.

Barbara's vision for the next 40 years is that the new light-rail line under construction brings positive development to her Silver Spring community – and that affordable housing remains in the neighborhood.

Barbara Richardson

Barbara Richardson was born and raised in Warrenton, North Carolina until the age of 17 when she moved to the Washington DC area to start a new life. By December of 1968, Barbara began her career with the Food and Drug Administration where she worked for 35 years until she retired in 2004. She is mother to one daughter, two lovely grandchildren, and her extended Park Montgomery family.
