Matt Engel
Matt Engel, Vice President, Real Estate Development for Enterprise Community Development, a division of Enterprise Community Partners, works on all aspects of the acquisition, preservation, and redevelopment of projects undertaken by the division. He has developed over 2,000 units of mixed income housing at a project value of over $300 million.
Engel is a senior member of the Community Development division’s real estate team and leads the company’s efforts in Virginia. He is responsible for sourcing, strategy and project development across a variety of markets and project types. Engel served as the lead developer on the Van de Vyver and the Rosa, a new construction project in Richmond, VA of 154 units (project value: $40 million) that delivered in 2020. Engel was also the lead developer on Lake Anne House, a new construction project in Reston, VA of 240 units (project value: $86 million) that delivered in 2022. Engel has worked on both new construction, rehabilitation and adaptive re-use projects in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Prior to Enterprise, Engel worked for a privately held real estate firms, where he developed, a 300+ unit HOPE VI project in Washington, D.C., and a 150+ unit HOPE VI project, also in Washington.
Engel is on the Leadership Council of the Northern Virginia Affordable Housing Alliance (NVAHA) member of the Housing Association of Non Profit Developers (HAND), and has presented at a number of conferences on mixed income housing. He graduated with honors from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota.
