Joe Geraci

CEO and Co-Founder, Intricate Bay Capital

Joe Geraci is CEO and co-founder of Intricate Bay Capital, a private equity investment and consulting firm focused on the sourcing, financing, and principal ownership of real assets with an emphasis on affordable multifamily housing. He launched the firm in late 2021. Previously, he was a Managing Director and co-Head of Global Spread Products within Markets at Citi, where he was responsible globally for the firm’s Credit, Securitized, Structured Finance and Municipal Securities businesses.

Earlier at Citi, Joe served as Deputy Head of the Municipal Securities Division, overseeing Municipal Markets, Public Finance and Citi Community Capital (CCC). He helped found CCC in 2007, leading the Citi deal team that acquired the affordable housing business of Capmark Financial and integrating it with Citi’s Community Development franchise. A fully integrated debt and equity, construction-to-permanent lending platform, CCC has been the largest lender to affordable multifamily housing in the United States since its creation. Over his career at Citi, Joe ran the firm’s Municipal Proprietary Trading desk (2002–2005), co-headed Municipal Capital Markets (2005–2017) and led the formation of CCC (2007–2008). He served on Citi’s Markets and Securities Services Management and Trading Management Committees.

Joe formerly served as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB), the municipal industry’s self regulatory organization. He has served on the advisory board of the A. Alfred Taubman Center for State and Local Government at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and on the advisory board of the Institute for Affordable Housing at New York University’s Furman Center. He also helped found and served on the board of The Honor Foundation, a transition institute for U.S. Special Operations Forces.

Joe graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with an A.B. in economics. He lives in Stamford, Connecticut, with his wife and their three children.
