2014 Institute: Sustainable, Connected Communities
Hosted by the University of Southern California, Enterprise’s fifth annual Affordable Housing Design Leadership Institute (AHDLI) took place in Los Angeles in September, 2014. The theme for the 2014 Institute was “Sustainable, Connected Communities,” highlighting those projects in which design excellence enables residents and communities to achieve the full promise of transit-oriented neighborhoods and green infrastructure.
The Institute The Institute addressed how Los Angeles might become a national model for transit-oriented development over the course of two-and-a-half days. Through working sessions and intensive dialogue, the Institute looked at how initiatives and projects in other cities can help inform, and be informed by, the ongoing work in L.A.
The keynote lecture, “Placemaking: Landscape, Architecture, and Community” was delivered by David Baker, FAIA and Andie Cochran, FASLA, and surveyed the pair’s collaborations over the course of several award-winning projects.
The program for ADHLI 2014, including in-depth project profiles and resources team bios, is available for download.
