Promoting Health through Housing Quality

At the second session of our Health and Housing series, supported by Citi, we utilized the learnings from the first session, Health and Housing Partnerships for an Equitable Response and Recovery from Covid-19, to focus on the impact that housing conditions can have on health and well-being.
Enterprise Solutions Division President Jacqueline Waggoner provided opening remarks, followed by a performance by Shá Cage. Our keynote speaker, Megan Sandel, MD, associate professor of pediatrics at the Boston University School of Medicine discussed needs around housing quality in the U.S. and how they are linked to adverse health outcomes and increased health care utilization and costs. Dr. Sandel then led a participatory discussion with Josie Williams, Greensboro Housing Coalition executive director, Ruth Ann Norton, Green and Healthy Homes Initiative president and CEO, on how the health care sector and the housing sector can play a role through targeted programs, systems or policy to improve health through housing conditions.
