Enterprise and The Unity Council announced that they are preserving 55 units of affordable housing through the purchase of a multifamily property at 2000 36th Avenue in Oakland’s Fruitvale neighborhood.

Enterprise Community Partners (Enterprise), following a nationwide search, named Jacqueline Waggoner president of its Solutions division, which operates 11 market offices across the country and delivers program, policy, advisory and capacity-building support at the national, state and local level.

Enterprise will provide technical assistance on behalf of the Strategic Growth Council to support prospective applicant to the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities sixth funding round.

Even while working at home with three energetic children and three actives dogs, Sofia Michel manages the Northern California office, from workstation updates to purchasing needs to special projects.

Construction has started for Sugar Pine Village, a new affordable housing community in Madera that will provide 52 high-quality, affordable apartment-style homes to the region.  More than 30% of the new homes will be available for individuals and families struggling with housing insecurity and homelessness.  

Through the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge, a nationwide competition that began in January 2020, six winning organizations will each receive $2 million in grants and two years of technical assistance valued at $500,000 to bring innovative concepts to market. Winning breakthrough ideas include building more equitable, healthier and resilient homes that radically reduce carbon emissions, re-engineering the affordable housing delivery system, and rethinking community reentry by building dignity through a home.

Homecoming Project, a 2020 Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge innovation winner, connects people coming back after a jail sentence with a place to stay – and pays their rent to help them get back on their feet.
