Transforming a Neighborhood

In order to catalyze revitalization in the wider Buckeye-Woodhill neighborhood, Cleveland Neighborhood Progress, Enterprise and other partners focused on rehabilitating the empty Saint Luke’s Hospital into a thriving mixed-use campus. This transformation has brought a renewed vibrancy to the neighborhood, and Saint Luke’s remains a symbol of hope for the community.

Housing Stability

The homes at Saint Luke’s Manor help to create housing stability by providing design features that accommodate the needs of older adults, even as their physical needs change over time. This is particularly true for residents who use wheelchairs or need other mobility assistance, who benefit from open floor plans and wide hallways.

The intentional design and construction of Saint Luke’s ensures that all of the homes on-site include key “universal design” elements that are proven to help adults age in place. This is a valuable benefit of Saint Luke’s for residents.

Quality Education

A quality education is one of the most important factors contributing to an individual’s career trajectory. The rehabilitated Saint Luke’s campus is providing students access to a positive learning environment by creating space for the Intergenerational School, a high-performing charter school serving grades K-8.

The Intergenerational School offers an innovative approach to learning that includes a focus on adult mentors regularly meeting with students and working with them on their reading skills. This encourages a lifelong appreciation of learning and personal growth for both the student and the mentor.

Meet the senior residents, elementary school students, and nonprofit staff to help tell the impact story of the Saint Luke’s campus.
