Youth Teaches Computer Classes at Island Walk
Island Walk residents Joshua, ninth grader and Ali, eighth grader, created and held a four-week computer class for our second through fourth grade residents in their community. Their goals were to teach the importance of computers as a necessary life skill and to educate their younger peer residents to understand the origin and purpose of computers.
Throughout the four weeks, Joshua and Ali used a website called www.typingclub.com to teach their students to type more efficiently. After initially testing the kids in their class, Joshua and Ali realized the need to implement the basics. During the time of the course, students learned how computers are made, who created computers, and the importance computers play in their lives and futures.
Feedback from the students was positive and students agreed that they would like to continue to work on their typing skills beginning January 2019. Great job to our soon-to-be computer experts!
