Detroit Shoreway: Working Together for Neighborhood Improvement
Every community evolves, influenced by changing economic, political and social tides. The strongest communities thrive with the support of passionate citizens, organizations and civic leaders working together on behalf of all residents and their diverse needs and preferences.
Detroit Shoreway in Cleveland is a great example of a once-vibrant community that came together to successfully find new life again. Today, this West Side Cleveland neighborhood is known as one of the city’s most diverse and hippest places to live, work and play. One of the leaders catalyzing the revitalization is the Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization (CDO). The organization continues to lead efforts to improve the community’s development, economy and quality of life.
Key to its success, the Detroit Shoreway CDO has formed long-term partnerships with community and business leaders committed to creating resources and opportunities for all residents and stakeholders.
“Building a community and successfully revitalizing a neighborhood like the Detroit Shoreway requires a broad cross-section of partners, beginning first and foremost with this amazing organization called Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization,” Enterprise Community Partners’ Elizabeth Richards, program director in the Ohio office, says in a new video about Detroit Shoreway.
Enterprise as well as J.P. Morgan Chase are among the many proud partners working with Detroit Shoreway, providing decades of technical know-how, policy expertise and investment. Both partners share the organization’s overriding commitment to equity and access.
“Working families got this neighborhood started and we want to make be sure that working families can afford to live in this neighborhood in the future – and to call Detroit Shoreway home,” says Jeff Ramsey, executive director of Detroit Shoreway CDO.
