R. House – A New Home for Baltimore’s Culinary Entrepreneurs
R. House, a hub for culinary entrepreneurs, is now open for business in the heart of Baltimore’s Remington neighborhood. This former automotive showcase room has been transformed into a launch pad for some of the area’s most innovative chefs. R. House is quintessential Baltimore – visitors are supporting local entrepreneurs, and the space is meant to feel like home.
Prior to opening-day, owners Seawall Development held a special neighborhood night when community members were invited to celebrate the opening. As a space that lifts up local small businesses and community gatherings, R. House continues to promote resident-led neighborhood and economic growth in Remington, which has become a destination for artists, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, makers and innovators.
Enterprise paired $11 million in New Markets Tax Credits with a $5.4 million loan to bring R. House to fruition. We see it as a perfect complement to our prior investments in nearby Remington Row and Miller’s Court, as this new style food hall capitalizes on Baltimore’s culture of entrepreneurship and is a project driven by the neighboring community. Congratulations to our partner, Seawall Development, who we have worked alongside over the past decade to ensure that Remington enjoys an equitable and inclusive revitalization that benefits the neighborhood’s residents and small business owners.
