Wyonette Cheairs is a program officer for the Ohio market. Wyonette works with stakeholders and the Lead Safe Cleveland Coalition to develop sound, collaborative policy approaches, financing solutions and a sustained landlord engagement strategy to prevent lead poisoning in Cleveland, Ohio. She serves as a conduit between the community and coalition partners, ensuring the voices of the people directly impacted by lead are heard and are full partners in project design and implementation.
Wyonette has developed and managed housing programs that aid in stabilizing the housing stock and repopulating urban areas while increasing homeownership opportunities for low income families. Her background includes extensive community organizing work and empowering community groups to take the lead in their community in a positive and impactful way. It also includes fundraising, land/real property acquisition for future development projects, loan processing, underwriting and closing, program development & management and managing construction home renovation projects. Wyonette also helped to develop and administer a $7.1 million Joint Employer-Assisted Housing Program. This partnership offers a mechanism for leveraging institutional and foundation funds to provide working families with assistance in obtaining housing options of choice, while revitalizing neighborhoods within Greater University Circle.
Prior to joining Enterprise, Wyonette worked at Fairfax Renaissance Development Corporation in several roles. She is committed to genuine community engagement and building strategic relationships that enhance the quality of life of marginalized communities.
Wyonette holds a bachelor’s degree in Urban Affairs from Cleveland State University and a master’s degree in Social Administration from the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University.
