As a senior program director at Enterprise Community Partners, Nella champions the integration of culture, creativity, and design into community development as valuable strategies for increasing equity and resilience. This is accomplished through programs and tools that increase the capacity of nonprofit developers to integrate community-participatory processes and to engage the talents of artists and designers. Nella speaks nationally on topics such as fostering new talent in the field, integrating creative placemaking into the development process and designing for positive health outcomes and social impact.
Nella has a background in urban planning and experiential education and is a senior fellow of the Environmental Leadership Program. She has worked on topics including infrastructure for active living, economic development for the creative sector, and policies that improve access to healthy food. Nella also spent time as a German Chancellor Fellow studying planning strategies for shrinking cities. She holds a master’s in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University and a bachelor’s from Wesleyan University where she majored in studio arts.
