As vice president leading the Fund Investment Reporting and Management (FIRM) group, Erik Apahnis oversees a team that provides fund level reporting and analysis to investors on over 120 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) funds and Enterprise’s growing number of Conventional Equity and Opportunity Zone funds. In addition, Erik’s team provides corporate accounting support to the EHCI and Conventional Equity teams. He is often a lead collaborator on cross team projects.
Before working in FIRM, Erik worked as an underwriter for eight years in EHCI. He worked with development partners to underwrite and close investments in affordable multifamily housing developments across the country ranging from $5 million to $25 million. He was also the business representative to Enterprise’s Information Technology group, where he helped develop improved technology and process solutions across the LIHTC business. Erik joined Enterprise in 2005.
Prior to joining Enterprise, Erik was in graduate school where he worked for a regional syndicator, analyzing investment opportunities and marketing the company. He also interned at the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, focusing on the sustainability of affordable housing properties approaching the end of their compliance period and helping to develop the state’s Year 15 policies and procedures.
He received a bachelor’s in political science and communications from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois and a Master’s degree in Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
