Most recently, Bill was CEO of MERS (Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems), a regulated financial utility that is named as mortgagee on 77 percent of residential mortgages ($31 million) and is the registry for 99 percent of digital mortgage notes. After a two-year technology modernization and transition period, MERS completed its sale to Intercontinental Exchange (owner of NYSE) in Q4, 2018.
Bill was formerly chairman and CEO of CitiMortgage, one of the leading originators and servicers of residential mortgages in the U.S. Bill managed 4 million customers representing $800 billion in serviced assets and a $180 billion owned-portfolio. During this period, Bill led the acquisition of ABNO AMRO mortgage, co-led the Principal mortgage acquisition and restructured the investment bank’s Ameriquest transaction.
Previously, Bill was chairman and CEO of The Student Loan Corporation, a NYSE-traded company that was ranked second nationally in student lending (NYSE:STU). During his tenure Bill negotiated and purchased over $10 billion in portfolio assets.
Bill also worked in IBM’s Corporate Strategy and Internet Marketing divisions, Citigroup’s Card Products group, Quotron System’s CAO function during divestiture, and European American Bank’s strategy department.
Bill is currently on the boards of Enterprise Investments and Enterprise Loan Fund. Previously he was on the boards of Enterprise Community Partners and MERS and chaired the board of MISMO (Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization).
Bill has a master’s degree in management from the Stanford Business School, Sloan program and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Economics from Brown University.
